GIG-ARTS welcomes its new Steering Committee and Scientific Advisory Board
GIG-ARTS is pleased to introduce its new Steering Committee and Scientific Advisory Board, strengthening the organisation’s coordination, academic development and international community.
As GIG-ARTS enters a new phase of development, its governance structure brings together a dedicated executive and coordinating body alongside a broader collegial body supporting the scientific quality and long-term academic development of the network.
The new Steering Committee and Scientific Advisory Board bring together scholars and colleagues working across disciplines, institutions and geographical contexts, supporting GIG-ARTS’ mission to connect research, education and debate on global Internet governance.
Executive coordination of GIG-ARTS
The Steering Committee is the executive and coordinating body of GIG-ARTS. It brings together the Leads of all permanent and annual ad hoc teams, ensuring coordination across the different activities of the network.
Its composition includes the GIG-ARTS Chair and Treasurer, the Leads of Institutional Affairs & Partnerships, Communication, Impact and Strategic Development, and Advocacy & Outreach, as well as the Co-Chairs of the annual Conference and the Co-Directors and Managing Director of the annual School.
The Steering Committee may also invite other members of the GIG-ARTS community, representatives of host institutions, or members of the Scientific Advisory Board to participate in specific meetings without voting rights.

Supporting scientific quality and academic development
The Scientific Advisory Board is a collegial body supporting the scientific quality, international visibility and strategic orientation of both the GIG-ARTS Conference Series and the GIG-ARTS School on Digital Governance.
The Board brings together external members and members of the Steering Committee. Its membership remains open to colleagues willing to contribute actively to its work, with attention to scientific standing, disciplinary diversity, geographical balance, career-stage diversity and commitment to the development of GIG-ARTS.
The Board advises on scientific priorities and long-term academic development, contributes to identifying emerging themes in Internet and digital governance, and supports the development of the Conference and School programmes.
It also contributes to identifying speakers, lecturers and academic partners, promotes the international visibility of GIG-ARTS, and supports research collaborations, publications and engagement with international research networks.
The Scientific Advisory Board has an advisory rather than executive function. Its recommendations are considered by the Steering Committee and the relevant working teams.
