A multidisciplinary forum for global Internet governance
The GIG-ARTS Conference — Global Internet Governance Actors, Regulations, Transactions and Strategies — is a European annual multidisciplinary academic venue for presenting and discussing developments in Global Internet Governance and their implications within and beyond this field of research.
The Conference brings together scholars working across disciplines with practitioners involved in the governance of digital technologies, creating a space for academic exchange, critical debate and engagement with contemporary policy challenges.
It is one of the outcomes of the GIG-ARTS project and has developed into a recurring meeting point for a growing international research community concerned with Internet and digital governance.
Building a diverse and connected academic community
The GIG-ARTS Conference pursues three core objectives.
Enlarge and diversify the community
Foster the enlargement and diversification of the academic community working on global Internet governance and increase its visibility across disciplines and research environments.
Create opportunities for young scholars
Open more opportunities for early-career researchers and young scholars, particularly those based in Europe and its neighbourhood.
Anchor debate in the European context
Provide a space where the scholarly community can address regional challenges and contribute to European discussions on Internet and digital governance.
A conference series since 2017
Since its inception in 2017, the GIG-ARTS Conference has focused each year on a central theme reflecting important developments and debates in Internet and digital governance.
Alongside keynote speeches, academic presentations and discussions, each edition includes engagement with practitioners, including roundtables organised around the annual conference theme.
Programmes, presentation abstracts, speaker profiles and other key materials from previous editions have been preserved in the GIG-ARTS Conference archive.
