The School in Salerno
The 3rd GIG-ARTS School on Digital Governance will take place at Polo Nautico Salerno, Italy, from 22–26 February 2027.
Salerno is located approximately 60 km from Naples and is connected to the wider region by rail and road. The central railway station and other main transport connections are located within the city.

Before you travel
The information below is intended to assist participants with planning their travel, accommodation and participation.
Accommodation
Accommodation is not included in the registration fee and must be arranged separately. We recommend considering Polo Nautico Salerno or other accommodation in Salerno with convenient access to the venue.
Location
Salerno is approximately 60 km from Naples. The city can be reached by train, bus or car and is connected to Naples and other destinations in Campania and Italy.
Airports
The two airports most relevant for participants are Naples Capodichino Airport and Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport. Check available routes and onward connections before booking.
Arranging your stay
Accommodation is not included in the registration fee. Participants should arrange and pay for their accommodation independently.
Salerno offers a range of hotels, guesthouses, bed and breakfasts and apartments. You can choose accommodation in different parts of the city according to your budget, preferences and transport needs.
Our recommendation is to consider staying at Polo Nautico Salerno, the School venue. The hotel and conference centre is located directly on the seafront, and staying at the venue may make it easier to attend sessions and move between activities.
Staying at Polo Nautico is a recommendation, not a requirement. Participants are welcome to book other accommodation in Salerno. If you choose another location, we suggest checking the journey to the venue in advance.

Visa & invitation letters
Participants who require a visa to travel to Italy or the Schengen Area are responsible for checking the applicable entry requirements and applying for their visa in good time.
If you need an invitation letter in support of your visa application, you can contact the GIG-ARTS team to request one. Please make your request sufficiently in advance of your intended travel date, as visa procedures and processing times can vary.

Getting to Salerno
Salerno can be reached by air via Naples or Salerno Airport, and by train from Naples and other Italian cities. Please verify current schedules, fares and routes before travelling.
Naples Airport → Naples Central Station
The Alibus shuttle connects Naples Capodichino Airport with Naples Central Station (Napoli Centrale). Journey times may vary with traffic.

Participants travelling via Naples can continue from Napoli Centrale to Salerno by train. Check departure times and ticket availability with the rail operators.
