“Online Information Governance – More Expression, Less Freedom?”
The Fourth European Multidisciplinary Conference on Global Internet Governance Actors, Regulations, Transactions, and Strategies (GIG-ARTS) was initially planned for May 7-8, 2020, in Vienna, Austria, but was rescheduled to September 14-15, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these efforts, the event was ultimately cancelled. The conference aimed to address the tension between increasing digital expression and the associated restrictions on freedom. The Media Governance and Industries Research Lab (Université Wien), Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence FreuDE, and multiple international partners, including COST Action GDHRNet, were key organizers and sponsors.
